Words from the Pastor
Thank You!!!
Thank you, thank you, thank you for all your prayers for my husband and for me. Barry is recovering nicely from his January 4th hip replacement surgery. Whenever anyone would wish him “Happy New Year, he would respond, “I’m going to have a “hip-py new year”. And surely, a new hip in the New Year is a good thing.
Thank you also for all your cards. One in particular has been especially inspiring. It reads: “If you want to get well fast...You’ve got to take it slow!” Indeed, the healing process is a slow one, but each day Barry is able to do a little more. In fact on one of the physical therapist’s recent visits, he asked her to show him how to unload the dishwasher. Sounds simple enough. The trick is not to bend or twist in ways that would interfere with his healing.
I am grateful to have had two weeks off so that I could be there for Barry, without having to worry about responsibilities at church. Thank you to Rev. Ron Krick and Rev. Al Teske for preaching and leading worship January 8th & 15th respectively and to Rev. Nick Pence for covering pastoral emergencies. What a blessing to have such fine colleagues in ministry. Thank you also to the consistory and the Board of Christian Education for doing their part and to our administrative assistant Marge Rudloff. It’s great to work together as a team.
All the support I received empowered me to answer God’s call to be with Barry these past two weeks. For surely that is one of the ways God calls us, to be there for our loved ones.
Thanks be to God who strengthens and sustains us to answer his call.
Yours in Christ’s service,
Pastor Becca
